Classic Picnic Food

Summer is here and with it thoughts of warm sunny weather, walks along the beach and family trips to the park come to mind.

But what do you eat whilst you are out and about?

How about a picnic! Not only are they a classic way to eat food outdoors but they can be fun, exciting and easy to adapt to all diets including vegan.

But what makes a picnic such a great outdoor activity is the ease in which you can set up and clear away and all without taking too much with you, setting up a picnic is much easier than a BBQ!

Picnic food by definition is small, bite sized and usually cooled or chilled making sure you don’t need to take a small kitchen set up with you when you travel.

All you need is a large cooler bag or picnic hamper if you are feeling a little nostalgic and you are good to go. Most hampers and bags will have space for drinks too, saving you a little less to carry separately.

You don’t have to be fancy with your food either, there are plenty of simple classic picnic foods available for you to buy or make that are just as delicious.

Which is why we have come up with a list of 5 classic picnic food ideas you should always consider when planning your picnic.

How To Do It: Outdoor Entertaining in Style

Celebrating a special moment, or just getting together with friends? Make the most of the warmer weather by moving the party outdoors. Enjoy balmy nights, flowing conversation, and your favourite music beneath the stars.

To get you inspired for your next summer party, read on to discover how to add style and flair to even the most casual outdoor get-together.

Create the setting

Size shouldn’t be a restriction when it comes to entertaining outdoors. Whether you’ve got a balcony or an enormous lawn, with the right additions you can make any outdoor space feel festive, welcoming and fun.

An easy way to set the party tone is by adding a splash of vibrant colour. Try stringing up a garland of paper lanterns from low hanging branches or fixtures. Set a table outside with crisp linens and vibrant posies of flowers. You may also simply add a string of coloured bunting to transform an ordinary space into something special.

Do stick to a single theme though. This is to keep it looking organised and put together. A one or two colour scheme is a great start. If you’re feeling more adventurous, you could choose a theme around a particularly inspiring idea!

Make it cosy

Outdoor entertaining shouldn’t have to mean perching on uncomfortable foldable stools or plastic chairs. Why not bring a touch of indoor comfort to the outdoors instead?

But hold fire before you start to lug that sofa suite into the garden. Add cosy touches to outdoor furnishing, to soften the area. Create comfort and make it feel more inviting. Throw pillows and a generous pile of soft, brightly coloured cushions and pouffes can transform a garden bench into an exotic and enchanting space.

Lucio Fire Bowl

For the ultimate in outdoor cosiness, add an outdoor fire pit. There’s really nothing quite like relaxing around a crackling fire as the summer sun sets around you.

Light up the night
